Chi Psi Phi was established on Sunday, February 24th, 2008. The organization is affiliated with the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH click here for website). The full name of the organization is the Chi Psi Phi Chapter of the NRHH. Meetings are not open to the public. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, we would love to hear them. Please send them in an email to the president.
The purpose of Chi Psi Phi is to honor and recognize student leaders in the Cal State Fullerton residence halls. In addition, the organization recognizes outstanding achievements outside the residence halls both on campus and off. Chi Psi Phi has many elements at its disposal to achieve its purpose. First, the organization inducts the top one percent of student leaders that live in the residence halls known as the Active Members. Within these members exists three officer positions, President, Treasurer and Secretary. These officers are responsible for the day to day operations of the organization. Second, a large part of Chi Psi Phi business is awarding Of The Months (OTMs) for the best something in a given category (e.g. Resident Advisor OTM). Third, the organization has many awards that it gives. These include: the Writer's Cramp Award for those who submit more than two OTMs in one month; the Diamond Pin for students inducted as Active Members; the Leadership Pin for the prominant display of leadership ability at CSUF or placement on the Chi Psi Phi executive board; and the Bronze Pin awarded by the Chi Psi Phi and Resident Student Association (RSA) presidents to honor individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to RSA, NRHH, PACURH and NACURH. Bronze pins are only awarded two times per year.
The current form of the NRHH chapter at CSUF started in the Spring 2007 semester. After attending the No Frills conference, then RSA President (Kyle Rush) and other officers decided to start an active chapter of NRHH at CSUF. After the idea was developed a position was created on the RSA officer staff (NRHH Director). President Rush appointed Dustin Harrison for the position. The NRHH Director had the overwhelming responsibility of starting the chapter. Soon after, an inagural active membership class was inducted. Those in the innagural class were: Emma Donnahue, Joleen Harris, Rachel Kha, Christy Orgeta, Kyle Rush, Amanda Smith and Alisa Van. The organization remained afloat for about year under the name NRHH.
Shortly into the Spring 2008 semester several of the Active members began exploring the posibility of writing a new constitution that would provide for an active chapter independent of RSA. After deciding that this was possible, a new constitution was writen. It was approved on Sunday, February 24th, 2008. The first and current officers are: Kyle Rush (President), Mia Arterberry (Treasurer) and Alisa Van (Secretary).
Chi Psi Phi is currently in the process of laying the foundations the organization needs to compete with all other active NRHH chapters. For a full list of members, visit the members section.
